Pollyanna Wilkinson gives her top tips on outdoor kitchens and introduces her own Huckleberry Garden Kitchen
We were thrilled when multi-award winning garden designer and author Pollyanna Wilkinson chose us to design and make a garden kitchen at her own house this spring. It’s lovely working with the best in the industry and as always we are so proud to see our furniture in the most beautiful gardens in the country! Here Polly gives her top tips on outdoor kitchens:
“A few tips to consider when you are thinking about an outdoor kitchen:
How you want to cook? Gas, Charcoal, Pizza oven?
Where should it be positioned (don’t underestimate convenience!) but consider views too.
What you want it to look like? What will work with your house and garden? Think about materiality and remember to chose a wipeable surface.
Using mine as an example, I wanted to cook with a green egg and a pizza oven (so fun for family pizza night) and I knew for convenience I wanted it close to the house and the dining space.
Our kitchen is a classic country kitchen with a modern twist, so I went for a solid oak kitchen by one of our studio favourites Huckleberry with a super tough Dekton top. Brass handles echo those used in the house kitchen. It's positioned out of view of the main windows of the house, parallel to the garden, so it's revealed rather than a focal point.”
